WHAT CORONA HAS TAUGHT US?
Well hitherto all the calamities and disasters either natural or manmade that our present generation has witnessed were more or less of local nature. That is, they have been restricted to certain regional boundaries, whether it is the long drawn Syrian crisis or Tsunami in Southern India, or more recently the floods of Kerala. However, the CORONA scare isn’t a local one, as declared by WHO as Pandemic; a global scare that has gripped humanity across the confines of territorial limits.
The very basic mode for CORONA to spread from one person to another is touch, although there are other modes as well. Touch is the very basic medium of communicating love and affection among we humans, unfortunately if CORONA actually manifests into its monstrous form what couple of countries have started experiencing and if it grows unabated, it’s very obvious preventive measure, physical distancing will have to be the norm; and imagine an unfortunate scenario where a grieving mother and crying child can’t be together for one them being infected, or a dying father and a son. Suffice to say this Pandemic, has the potential to shred the very social fiber of humanity. We have been reading, so far, only about the economic impact of CORONA, think of it with abovementioned perspective. Economic crisis coupled with social distress, like a gory picture totted with purges of infected.
Well intent here is not to rumor mongering instead bringing forth the answer to my question, “what Corona has taught us”? It has taught us the impact of a Global calamity; it has taught us the insignificance of us humans in the wake of a gigantic ocean of devastation. We may soon find the cure of this one, but are we prepared for another one as well? Because there’s another Global crisis looming large, which once set into the motion, won’t stop before it does the full circle of natural course. Since 1850 the Global temperature has already risen by 01 degree Celsius and we have started experiencing the jitters. Latest studies tells we will rise another 01 degree faster than what we did in last 150 years, may be 4 times faster, hence that gives us a little window of mid-course correction, because with 02 degree Celsius rise; the environment will simply collapse. Hence taking a cue from this Global pandemic we must start looking for doing something, before it’s too late.
